Need help with first moped?

I went into my local motorcycle shop today and asked about the Aprilla RS50. The guy straight away said he wouldn't get one if I had no experience in bike maintenance etc. If the RS50 and SR50 are both two stroke then what's the difference because he said I should get something like the SR50 or the TGBR50x? These are both two stroke I believe too so wouldn't maintenance etc be the same as on the RS50. I really don't know so any help on what would be the best?
